One of last year's best thrillers was this awesome Tamil movie called Vikram Vedha. The movie had starred R Madhavan as the brave, smart cop Vikram and Vijay Sethupathi as the cunning, ruthless gangster Vedha, and takes its inspiration from the Bikram Betaal saga. Vikram Vedha had won over the critics with its style of narration as well as the performances, and was a hit at the box office too. It was also the top ranked Indian movie of 2018 on IMDB, beating Baahubali 2 in the process.

Ever since the quality of the movie caught the fancy of the industrywallahs in Bollywood, we have been hearing that Vikram Vedha is soon to get a remake here. Well, it is now official! Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had confirmed this news, as he tweeted, "#BreakingNews: #VikramVedha in Hindi... Reliance Entertainment, Plan C Studios [spearheaded by Neeraj Pandey] and Y Not Studios [headed by S Sashikanth] to remake the much-loved Tamil film in Hindi... Pushkar and Gayatri, who directed the original, will direct Hindi remake." However it is not yet confirmed who would take on the lead roles. Earlier it was speculated that R Madhavan would reprise his role from the original, with Shah Rukh Khan taking on the role of the gangster. Is that still happening?

Here's the trailer of the original movie,

Later, Neeraj Pandey, in an official statement, talked about remaking Vikram Vedha where he said, “Vikram Vedha is a unique film and this story has to be retold to the Hindi audience world over. We have all grown up on the Vikram Betaal mythology, but this out of the box contemporary treatment makes it a must-see movie.”

Shibasish Sarkar, the COO of Reliance Entertainment, also shared his excitement about remaking the movie, as he revealed, “It is one of the best films to emerge not just from the Tamil market but from the Indian film industry as a whole in the last decade. And as Vikram and Vedha’s stories unfold, you discover different layers to their characters and their individual points of view. There is a twist in the tale for the audience every 20-30 minutes, leading up to an intriguing climax, which leaves the viewer to decide who gets killed.”

As of now, we are quite curious to know when the movie is coming out, and who can we see taking on the roles of the heroes.
