SS Rajamouli pleasantly surprised us earlier in the day when he officially announced the star cast of his next big budget. Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, RRR will also mark Alia Bhatt's foray into South cinema and Ajay Devgn's collaboration with Rajamouli. The period drama that revolves around two freedom fighters will hit the screens on July 30 and it will evidently clash with Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera. RRR is already busy grabbing eyeballs for his stellar star cast and also as Rajamouli's return after the humongous success of Baahubali. Some high hopes are pinned on this fictional story that involves two non-fiction characters. RRR: Ram Charan and Jr NTR as Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem in SS Rajamouli's Next; Here's Everything You Need to Know About These Freedom Fighters.

An official announcement about Shamshera's release date

Interestingly, Ranbir's Shamshera that stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor is also a period drama that revolves around a tribe. And it's very similar to RRR in many ways. Ram Charan plays Alluri Seetharamaraju, who belongs to a tribe in his film. In fact, the angle of their fight against the British is also very similar. Ranbir Kapoor in his interaction with the Republic had earlier revealed a gist about his first period drama. When asked to spill some beans on Shamshera, he had said, "It's a wonderful action, thriller, adventure movie set in 1800. It's about a Daaku tribe and their fight for justice from the British for getting what they deserve back." With so many similarities, we doubt if the makers will let their movies release on the same day. After Alia Bhatt in SS Rajamouli’s RRR, 5 More Bollywood Actresses We Want to See Work in South Movies.

An official announcement about RRR's release date

And just in case they go ahead with their planned release date, it will see Ranbir Kapoor locking horns with his girlfriend, Alia Bhatt at the box office. We wonder how will these lovebirds react to this interesting news and if they'll come out in support of each other.
