Aamir Khan-Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan has finally hit the screens. The buzz of the movie was great and there were high expectations of the film. However, the first reviews of this mega film directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya did not turn out to be as good as expected. Nevertheless, the immense promotions and the fact that Mr Perfectionist shared the screen space with Big B, has managed to pull the crowd to theatres on the opening day. Happy New Year- Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone's comedy film directed by Farah Khan collected whopping Rs 44. 97 crore on day 1. This record still continues to rule the ticket windows.

Baahubali 2-The Conclusion- The mega multi-lingual film by SS Rajamouli starring Prabhas collected Rs 41 crores on the first day. The burning question of 'why katappa killed Baahubali' was enough to attract the major chunk of audience.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo- Salman Khan-Sonam Kapoor's family drama is the third one to clinch the score. The film collected Rs 40.35 on day one. Dhoom 3- This Aamir Khan was much-anticipated one, thanks to the previous two hit installments. The movie garnered Rs 36.22 crore on the very first day which is indeed a huge amount.
