Akshay Kumar has begun shooting for his upcoming movie, Sooryavanshi. The cop drama is directed by Rohit Shetty and has Katrina Kaif as the female lead. Sooryavanshi also has the involvement of Karan Johar as the producer (Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar are co-producing too). The movie is a part of the Singham universe, that involves Ajay Devgn's Singham series and Ranveer Singh's Simmba. In fact, Akshay Kumar had first donned the character of Veer Sooryavanshi in the final scene of SimmbaSooryavanshi: Akshay Kumar's Dapper Look as ATS Chief in Rohit Shetty's Cop Drama Looks Impressive.

And now it looks like there is one more thing in common with Sooryavanshi and Simmba, apart from being set in the same universe and having the same director. The makers have shared the first still from the movie that has a serious-looking Akshay Kumar walking down what appears to be a hotel corridor.

Flanking him on the sides are Vivan Bhatena and Amrit Singh who would be playing his subordinates.

What's interesting here is that Amrit Singh had played one of the antagonists in Ranveer Singh's Simmba. He had essayed the role of the main villain Doorvva Yashwanth Ranade (Sonu Sood)'s younger brother (see left in the below pic). The character, along with his another brother, was killed by Simmba (Ranveer Singh) after they raped a young girl who was close to the cop.

Considering that it was not a minor role, we are surprised that Rohit Shetty brought the actor once again to play a different character in Sooryavanshi, a movie set in the same universe. Perhaps, Shetty might have thought that people would have forgotten this casting commonality by the time Sooryavanshi releases (Eid 2020).

Interestingly, this is not the first time Singham-universe movies have had the same actors playing different characters. Suchitra Bandekar who played Kajal Aggarwal's mother in Singham, also essayed Ashutosh Rana's wife in Simmba. Also, actress Shriswara had essayed different characters in Singham Returns and Simmba.
