Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike is on its way to breaking more box office records. The military drama, co-starring Yami Gautam and Paresh Rawal, is racing towards the Rs 200 crore mark at lightning speed. The film is currently in its third week and still minting big moolah at the ticket windows. Despite opening to not so great reviews, Uri has had a successful run at the BO and has also turned out to be the first big blockbuster of 2019. Also, it has surpassed quite a few biggies of 2018 in the box office race so far. Vicky Kaushal to Replace Shah Rukh Khan in Rakesh Sharma Biopic, Saare Jahaan Se Achcha?
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to microblogging site Twitter and revealed the updated figures of the film. He wrote, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike refuses to slow down... The josh is intact... [Week 3] Fri 4.40 cr, Sat 9.75 cr, Sun 9.20 cr, Mon 3.40 cr. Total: ₹ 160.78 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh."
Further, a report in Boxofficeindia.com stated, "The third week of the film is heading for 34 crore nett which will be the fourth highest third-week collection of all time after Bahubali - The Conclusion, Dangal, and PK. It will easily beat the best third weeks of last year which were Padmaavat at 30 crore nett and Sanju at 29 crore nett. The only thing left to be seen is whether this film can reach 200 crore nett. It is an uphill task but with limited competition for two weeks, there is a chance."
While Uri is still high on josh at the cinema halls, last week two new films arrived in the theatres - Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray. While both of the films are doing good business, Manikarnika is currently leading the way. But interestingly, these two films haven't affected Uri's collection at least till now which is obviously a good sign.
