Suneil Anand Passes Away

Confirming the tragedy, Suneil Anand's niece, Gina Narang, shared a statement on behalf of the family requesting privacy during their time of grief: "With heavy hearts, our family mourns the passing of Suneil Anand. We are comforted by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, for which we are truly grateful. We kindly request privacy as we navigate this difficult time together."

Dev Anand's long-time associate Mohan Churiwala also confirmed to news agency PTI that Suneil suffered a heart attack while in London. Suneil's sister, Devina Anand, travelled to the United Kingdom following the announcement.

Suneil Anand was an actor, director, and producer who carried forward the cinematic legacy of one of Hindi cinema’s most prominent dynasties. As the son of Dev Anand, he grew up surrounded by filmmaking and chose to enter the entertainment industry after completing his higher education abroad.

Although he maintained a low public profile in his later years, he remained deeply connected to his family’s cinematic inheritance, overseeing the operations of the banner Navketan Films.

Suniel Anand's Personal Life

Suniel Anand was born on June 30, 1956, in Zurich, Switzerland, while his parents were travelling to attend the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. He belonged to a distinguished creative lineage; apart from his famous parents, his uncles were celebrated filmmakers Chetan Anand and Vijay Anand, and director Shekhar Kapur is his cousin.

After completing his schooling, Suneil moved to the United States to pursue higher studies and graduated with a degree in Business Administration from American University in Washington, DC. Despite his academic background in business, he ultimately decided to return to India and join the film industry. Suneil remained unmarried throughout his life.

Suneil Anand's Career

Suneil began his professional journey assisting his father on several directorial projects in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He made his official acting debut in 1984 with Anand Aur Anand, a film directed by Dev Anand that introduced him to screen audiences alongside an ensemble cast.

Following his debut, he appeared in film projects such as Car Thief (1986) and Main Tere Liye (1988). In 2001, Suneil transitioned behind the camera to make his directorial debut with Master, an action-oriented martial arts feature.
