2018 film Mary Queen of Scots starring Academy Award nominee actresses, Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan had its world premiere on the closing night of AFI Fest. While the critics are divided on the film, the sex scenes between Mary, the Queen of Scotland (Saoirse) and her second husband, Lord Darnley (Jack Lowden) are generating much hype. An intimate scene, in particular, is of Lord Darnley performing oral sex on Mary. Film director Josie Rourke has called this scene as “an authentic female orgasm on screen.” ‘Queening’ is the Hottest Sex Position! Why all Women Need to Try This Empowering Style for Oral Orgasm.

The scene mentioned above from Mary Queen of Scots shows Lord Darnley pleasuring Mary by performing oral sex on her. They engage in the act, so Mary can avoid getting pregnant before the two get married. Now, this scene has created a stir with the camera giving a closeup of the 24-year-old actress’ face post orgasm. Josie in her conversation with Metro explained the need for this scene and how Saoirse has been impressed with her acting chops.

The 42-year-old film director says, "I thought very carefully about that scene, and it was nothing to do with the rating. It was to do with wanting to see the pleasure she is receiving and wanting to show that from a female gaze point of view. " Adding further on Saoirse’ performance, Josie says, "And she acts it brilliantly, to get what feels like an authentic female orgasm on screen? We need to see her face to do that."

Interestingly, Saoirse and Jack are believed to be an item. Speaking about doing sex scenes with her rumoured boyfriend, the Ladybird actress was quoted saying, “We choreographed the whole thing, so it felt like a dance.’ She says, “Jack and I are very comfortable with each other. We looked after each other.” The young actress further added, “I don’t think he’d ever done anything like that before either. It was new territory for both of us.”

Coming back to Mary Queen of Scots, the film has received appreciation for the performances and costumes but criticised for historical inaccuracies. Margot Robbie who plays the role of Queen Elizabeth I, Mary's cousin and the Queen of England and Ireland has drawn the most of negative reviews with many calling her a ‘miscast’ and called her performance as "lame self-righteousness over drama". Ouch!
