Yalitza Aparicio is definitely one deserving name on the list of actresses nominated for the 2019 Oscars Best Actress Category for her role in Alfanso Cuaron's Roma. And backing up her much-deserved nomination is the fact that the one-film-old actress already has almost nine other awards nominations to her credit. And the fact that the actress’ debut film is in the lead with 10 nominations and also has bright chances of winning most of them, only strengthens her chances. The nominations were revealed last week and the anticipation around who will take home the Oscars this time is only increasing with each passing day. Oscars 2019: Date, Venue, Nominations and Everything You Need To Know About The 91st Academy Awards

Yalitza Aparicio was born on December 11, 1993, to Mixtec (father) and (mother) Triqui origin parents. Debuting with the Oscar Favourite Roma, Yalitza has had no formal training in the field of acting. Co-incidentally, her role of the maid Cleo in the black and white film, she was required to be fluent in Mixtec language, which she went on to learn.

The film is the actress’ debut movie and she has been applauded by one and all for her portrayal of the maid Cleo. In fact, she has been the recipient in the Best Actress Award category of nine other awards for the role- Chicago Film Critics Association, Gotham Independent Film Awards, Austin Film Critics Association, Critics' Choice Movie Awards, Alliance of Women Film Journalists, Georgia Film Critics Association, Satellite Awards, this year’s Academy Awards and the Hollywood Film Awards, which she won.

As much as we’d like for Roma to bag away all the awards in its nominated categories, Yalitza has some really stiff competition from names like Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born), Glen Close (The Wife) and Olivia Colman (The Favourite), who have better chances to winning the Best Actress Award. But on the brighter side, the kind of name and fame that Roma has helped Yalitza amass, it makes the 23-year-old, one of the most bankable stars that Hollywood has ever had. And the icing on the cake is the fact that Roma leads in the Oscar nominations and has a very very bright chance of taking home all the trophies.

This year’s Oscars will be a tad different than every year’s, for it will not have a host. However, the announcements of the Oscar nominees did have hosts- Tracee Ellis Ross and Kumail Nanjiani. The ceremony will be airing on February 24 on ABC network.
