Aishwarya Lekshmi on Never Returning to Social Media
In a candid conversation with The Times of India, Aishwarya Lekshmi articulated her reasons for abandoning social media, emphasising that the constant scrutiny and negativity led to feelings of insecurity and hindered her personal interactions. "I never felt safe there. People commented on my body, morphed my pictures and constantly judged me," Lekshmi stated, adding, "One negative comment makes you feel like everyone hates you."
She further elaborated on how social media had made her guarded in real-life interactions. "Even when people came up to meet me, I'd want to end the conversation quickly," she confessed. The thought of re-entering the digital realm makes her feel "exhausted."
Lekshmi also highlighted the detrimental effect on her artistic integrity and personal growth, stating that social media "successfully distracted me from what my work & research should be. It has taken away every original thought from me, affected my vocabulary and language, and made every other simpler pleasure joyless." Her commitment to this decision is so strong that she declared, "Honestly, I'd stay away from social media even if someone paid me 100 crore every day."
Aishwarya Lekshmi officially quit Instagram in September 2025, a move she described as taking "the risk here to be forgotten." However, she humorously admitted to using her "dog's Instagram account to keep up with news and see how my films are doing."
