It is not an easy time being a fan of Kamal Haasan the actor these days. The National award-winning legend, considered as one of the best actors Indian cinema has seen, has not bee seen in a movie that is declared a classic in the past few years. We are yearning for him to do a film like Guna or Nayagan, and what we get are movies that are more about Kamal Haasan-gimmickry rather than a film that makes us fall in love with the actor in him. His last film, Vishwaroopam 2, was easily one of the worst films in his career. Vishwaroop 2 AKA Vishwaroopam 2 Movie Review: It's a Mission Impossible To Enjoy This Kamal Haasan Spy Thriller.

And yet, there is hope! Kamal Haasan is reuniting with his Indian director S Shankar, to make the sequel for his 1996 blockbuster. Indian 2 is in the works, as Kamal Haasan is all set to return as the former freedom fighter-turned-vigilante, Senapathy. Remember that two-finger Kalaripayattu trick that he uses to paralyse his opponents? Well, that also makes a return with Senapathy, going by the first poster of the film, where this gesture is the focus. S Shankar shared the poster as a Pongal treat for his fans! 'Indian 2' Could be Kamal Haasan’s Last Film, Actor Hints At Winding Up His Film Career for Politics.

As per the poster, Indian 2 will begin its shoot from January 18. Interestingly, even though the first movie is set 20 years back, the sequel will follow where the film ended. If you remember the events of the predecessor, Senapathy was on the run in Hong Kong, after having killed his own son (Kamal Haasan, again) for being corrupt. So we are curious to know how that will affect his future crusades.

S Shankar is on a high after making India's costliest film in 2.0, that managed to recover its costs. Indian 2 also reunites him with his 2.0 backers, Lyca Productions.

Let's also not forget that the first Indian movie gave Kamal Haasan his fourth and last National Award for the Best Actor. Can the sequel bring in him his fifth trophy? Let's wait and watch!
