If everything had gone as planned, we would have already seen the trailer for Vishal and Samantha's Irumbuthirai, or perhaps even the whole movie, a couple of weeks back. However, the film industry's 49-day strike played spoilsport, delaying all the promotional campaign for the movie. Now that the strike is over and the movies are getting to the theatres, the makers of Irumbuthirai are ready to bring out their cyber thriller.

Produced by Vishal himself, the first trailer of Irumbuthirai has come out and it presents a very sleek thriller. Vishal gets into action mode once again, playing an army officer, engaged in a cat-n-mouse chase with the antagonist, played by a very formidable Arjun. Even though the movie is about Data theft and online crimes, Vishal still finds time to flex his muscles and kick some ass. And of course, he also gets to romance a beautiful Samantha in between. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for the film.

Earlier during the audio launch, director PS Mithran has this to say about working with Vishal's mass image, “After he came on board, I had to consider his mass image. He has sent thousands of rowdies to the skies. I had to tweak the script a bit, but as the film is about a technical subject, I’ve made his character someone the audience can relate to."

He also revealed how he convinced Arjun to take on the negative role. “When Arjun sir realised we wanted him to play villain, he refused to listen to the story, and pick up calls (laughs). Then we approached Arya who initially agreed but backed off because he didn’t think a negative role was a good idea. So, I returned to Arjun sir,” Mithran said. The release date is confirmed on May 11, and the movie has already been cleared with a U certificate.
