Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is pulled up in the controversy because of his ad. He was recently seen spinning a charkha in the ad of textile brand and that attracted the legal flak. The Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board has sent a notice to the star for featuring in the commercial and thus mis guiding the viewers with it. Shobana George, the president of The Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board told to a news agency, “Legal notices have been issued to both the textile group and Mohanlal. There is no connection between the charkha, which is a symbol of the freedom struggle, with the textiles sold by the group.”

Following the complaint, the board even insisted on removing the ad from the television. No official confirmation from the makers of the ad or from the star has been out yet.

Earlier, Mohanlal received tremendous backlash for reinstating accused actor Dileep in AMMA. The film industry was against his decision to support the star who is accused of being involved in abducting and sexual harassment of a Malayalam actress.

However, a meeting was held between AMMA and WCC and it turned out to be fruitful. Mohanlal, head of AMMA, said that he did a mistake by reinistating Dileep in the organisation.

He will be next seen in Rosshan Andrrews directed Kayamkulam Kochunni featuring Nivin Pauly. The film also stars stars Priyanka Thimmesh, Priya Anand, Babu Antony and Sunny Wayne in pivotal roles.
