Thalapathy Vijay is currently ruling the box office with his latest release, Bigil. The film directed by Atlee has received a massive response not just in India but also overseas. In the meantime, Vijay and Atlee's first film together, 2016's Theri is getting a Telugu remake. While it was confirmed that the film will star Ravi Teja in a lead role, the film's leading lady too has now been confirmed. The official news is that actress Shruti Haasan has been roped in to play the female lead in the film. The director of the film took to his social media and welcomed the popular actress, Shruti Haasan on board. This is the second time Haasan will be teaming up with Ravi Teja and director Gopichand Malineni after their 2013 film Balupu.

Sharing her happiness about working on this project, Haasan took to Twitter and wrote, "Very excited to be a part of this project !! And to be working with @RaviTeja_offl and @megopichand again !!! #RT66 @TagoreMadhu @LightHouseMMLLP."

Vijay's Theri revolved around a baker who holds a secret identity as former Deputy commissioner of police and he is on a secret Ghost Protocol mission organised by the Commissioner of police. Apart from this film, Shruti Haasan is also starring in Vijay Sethupathi’s Laabam.
