Fans of Tamil Superstar Ajith Kumar aka Thala are eagerly awaiting the release of his new film, Viswasam. While Viswasam is aiming for a Pongal release, Ajith Kumar has already greenlighted his next movie, that will also mark the debut of Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor in South. Ajith's fifty-ninth film, tentatively titled Thala 59, will be the official remake of Bollywood hit, PINK. More details have been revealed about the shoot, which has begun after today's pooja. Boney Kapoor was also present for the same, while the team also paid their respects to his wife, the late Sridevi. Industry watcher Ramesh Bala let out more details of the film. H Vinoth of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru fame will be directing the movie. Even the release date has been confirmed as the movie will come out on May 1, 2019. Ramesh Bala also revealed that Thala 60 will also be produced by Boney Kapoor.

From early reports, it was Sridevi who had asked Ajith Kumar to act in her husband's productions, when Ajith shot his cameo for the Tamil version of English Vinglish. Last year, before her unexpected demise, Ajith had approached her with the idea of remaking PINK, which she agreed and Boney Kapoor bought the rights for the same.

The original film, also starring Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Angad Bedi, was a legal drama that looked at how society looks at independent single women. Amitabh Bachchan played a lawyer who defends the three female leads when they get falsely accused of assaulting a bureaucrat's son. The remake will not be a scene by scene copy and will change the suit the sensibilities of the Tamil viewers.
