The penultimate episode of Euphoria Season 3 has left viewers in shock following a major character's demise. In Episode 7, titled "Rain or Shine," the long-running HBO drama delivered a definitive answer regarding the fate of Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi. After a season spent spiralling into financial ruin and facing severe retaliation from dangerous criminal elements, the central antagonist was killed off in the final moments of the episode, drastically altering the landscape of the series ahead of its upcoming finale. ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Episode 7 Release Date: When and Where To Watch Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya’s Popular Show Online.

Which Main Character Dies in ‘Euphoria’ Season 3, Episode 7?

Nate Jacobs is officially dead following a tense hostage situation that culminated in an unexpected environmental hazard.  Throughout the third season, the character shifted from a domineering high school athlete to a failed real estate developer buried under a USD 1 million debt to a loan shark named Naz.

This financial delinquency previously resulted in severe physical consequences for Nate, including the loss of a toe and a finger across earlier episodes.  In Episode 7, the conflict reached its breaking point when Naz and his associates held Nate hostage, burying him alive in a shallow grave inside a small box. The captors left a narrow vent to the outside world, giving his wife, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), a three-day deadline to deliver the ransom money.

The Standoff and Nate's Fate

Spoiler Ahead! Cassie attempted to secure Nate's freedom by coordinating a rescue operation. She sought assistance from Maddy (Alexa Demie), who subsequently involved a character named Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje).  Alamo accompanied Cassie to the designated drop site, where a violent confrontation ensued.

During the standoff, Alamo shot and killed one of the loan sharks, effectively ending the hostage situation and allowing Cassie to locate the burial site.  However, the rescue proved futile. Prior to the excavation of the box, a venomous rattlesnake entered the structure through the breathing vent and bit Nate. The episode concluded with Cassie discovering his body and weeping over his necrotising remains, confirming his death.

Series creator Sam Levinson addressed the creative decision behind the character's graphic exit, noting that the sequence was designed to subvert audience expectations regarding poetic justice. Levinson stated that he intended to deliver consequences for Nate's history of toxic behaviour, but wanted to present it in a manner that induced maximum anxiety for the viewer.

Behind-the-scenes footage released alongside the episode revealed that the production utilised a combination of a real rattlesnake for specific close-up shots and a modified prop reptile for the interior sequence with Elordi.  Reflecting on his character's departure, Elordi noted that the dark and unconventional demise felt appropriate given the trajectory of the role since the show's premiere in 2019. ‘Euphoria’ Star Sydney Sweeney Drops Loved-Up Moments With Boyfriend Scooter Braun From Australia Getaway.

The narrative fallout of the death leaves Cassie and Maddy to manage the immediate aftermath of the shooting, while the series shifts its focus toward Rue's (Zendaya) ongoing struggles in the final episode.
