We bring you a quick recap of Amazon's Inside Edge season 1 as the stakes for the Emmy's nominated show are already high with season 2 releasing on December 6. Inside Edge had it all, the show took a sly dig at the dark side of the cricket world, right away from betting, match-fixing and other controversies that go on within the gentlemen's game. Leaving viewers hooked for all the right reasons, let's take a look at what happened in the first season of Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadda show.

It highlighted an IPL rip-off tournament named the Powerplay League that focused on the Mumbai Mavericks, a T20 cricket franchise co-owned by Zarina Malik (Richa Chadda), an actress by profession. Vayu Raghava (Tanuj Virwani) was seen as the star player of Zarina's team led by Arvind Vashisth (Angad Bedi). Vikrant Dhawan (Vivek Oberoi), the antagonist, takes over the Mumbai Mavericks by acquiring majority stakes and later starts bribing the team players for match-fixing in the PowerPlay League. Knowing the fact that Mumbai Mavericks is in financial crisis, Vikrant takes over total control of the team for his benefit. Siddhant Chaturvedi as Prashant Kanaujia, was a small-town fast bowler with an aspiration to get into Team India someday. Amit Sial as Devender Mishra, Mumbai Mavericks’ spinner an envious senior team player, who kept humiliating Prashant all the time on his caste and financial background. Spoiler Alert

The climax of Inside Edge season 1 was unpredictable, with Vikrant Dhawan making his troop perform miserably (due to match-fixing) for the finals. Vikrant had invested all his money in this match by betting odds in his favour that Mumbai Mavericks will lose the finals. He also had Vayu Raghavan up as his Knight in the big game. But things turned around when Vayu, the star player of the Mavericks, won the match and went against Vikrant. With that, Vikrant incurred a major loss, and he ended up losing all the black money, in which there was involvement of ministers and other businessmen. But it was the unexpected murder that led to the climax further intriguing.

It was Devendra Mishra who got shot by Prashant Kanaujia (a rookie fast bowler who joined the Mavericks) in the dressing room. It happened after Prashant tried to intimidate Devendra, which further led to a heated argument between them. An investigation was ordered, but the one who was in charge of the case was someone that no one had ever heard about. The investigator was never introduced in season one; however, a glimpse of ‘Bhaisahab’ was shown in Inside Edge 2 trailer. The man who ‘managed’ the Devendra murder case, the one who holds immense power in the political world, is played by none other than Aamir Bashir. The Powerplay League will be set according to his game plans in season two.
