Srikant Tiwari returns for yet another high-stakes mission - this time in the North-East - in the third season of The Family Man. Brought to life once again by Raj and DK, the series brings back Manoj Bajpayee as the wry, world-weary intelligence officer and deceptively ordinary family man. He’s joined by returning cast members Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Seema Biswas, Ashlesha Thakur, Darshan Kumaar, Gul Panag, Vipin Sharma and Uday Mahesh, among others. ‘The Family Man’ Season 3 Review: A Solid if Not Entirely Flawless Thrill Ride With Manoj Bajpayee, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sharib Hashmi’s Superb Performances.
Season 3 also ropes in a fresh set of faces, including Jaideep Ahlawat, Nimrat Kaur, Aditya Srivastav, Harman Singha, Jugal Hansraj and Paalin Kabak. And then comes the big surprise - an unexpected cameo that ties together Raj & DK’s streaming universe on the same platform.
Yes, we’re talking about Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi - who has acted in so many industries that the ‘Pan-India’ tag genuinely feels earned for him. He appears in the penultimate episode of The Family Man Season 3, reprising his Farzi character, Michael Vedanayagam, the head of the Counterfeiting & Currency Fraud Analysis & Research Team (CCFART).
Michael from 'Farzi'
Farzi, the 2023 crime thriller series created by Raj & DK, premiered on Prime Video and marked Shahid Kapoor’s OTT debut. He plays a con artist running a counterfeit racket with his friend, played by Bhuvan Arora. Vijay Sethupathi delivers a cracking performance as the Special Task Force officer determined to shut them down, with his banter alongside Zakir Hussain’s finance minister injecting unexpected humour.
The Universe Connection
The shared universe had already been hinted at earlier - Manoj Bajpayee made a cheeky voice cameo in Farzi, confirming that both shows coexist in the same world. In one scene, a desperate Michael calls someone he clearly doesn’t like, and the unmistakably caustic voice at the other end is Srikant Tiwari. Michael even calls him "Tiwari," asking for a favour, which Srikant grants in the most dismissive, Srikant-esque manner.

After asking for Srikant’s help in Farzi, Michael finally gets the chance to return the favour in The Family Man Season 3.
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
When Srikant and JK (Sharib Hashmi) are on the run from their own agency - after being falsely accused of colluding with the enemy - they decide to infiltrate Myanmar to hunt down Rukma (Jaideep Ahlawat). Srikant first turns to his eternal trump card, Chellam Sir (Uday Mahesh), who claims he can't help this time but hints at someone else. Srikant immediately knows who he means - and is visibly unhappy about it.
We soon find out why.
The mystery contact turns out to be Michael, who comes to meet Srikant in person. JK too knows him well, suggesting a long-standing (and amusingly prickly) history between the three of them. Michael then helps coordinate their infiltration plan by arranging a guide familiar with the underground routes used in counterfeit currency channels between Myanmar and India. He even shares a brief yet fascinating bit of history about Tamil settlements in the North-East - and how their once-thriving presence in Myanmar was disrupted by political upheaval.
When Manoj Bajpayee Denied The Crossover in 2024
Now that Sethupathi has cameoed in The Family Man S3, will we see Manoj Bajpayee appear in person in Farzi S2? It would be quite exciting to see the acting legend share the screen with Sethupathi again and get to see more of their banter, and possibly even get to meet Kapoor on screen there.
Funnily, during an interview with The Lallantop in 2024, Bajpayee had dismissed the idea of a crossover between The Family Man and Farzi then. He had said, "I don’t think this will happen. Right now, we have to complete the four seasons of Family Man. We have to finish that commitment first then we will think something. But I don’t think these universes will be merged because Family Man in itself is a very big universe. I don’t think Raj and DK and Amazon would want to mix it with something else." Nicely deceived, Mr Bajpayee! Srikant Tiwari would be proud of your deception.
