Unlike Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, Amitabh Bachchan’s Granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda Will NOT Enter Bollywood, Says Shweta Nanda

After evading the limelight for so many years, Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter is ready to be in public eye. While Shweta Nanda confesses that it’s not easy getting used to being in the spot light, she has managed to make quite an impact as a writer and designer. At 44, Shweta kick-started her career as an entrepreneur, writer and also went on to work in a commercial with her superstar father. Everyone is keen to find out, if her daughter, Navya Naveli Nanda too harbours Bollywood dreams? Well, for those expecting Big B’s granddaughter to be in movies like Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan the answer is negative...

In a recent interview Shweta opened up about Navya’s Bollywood plans, she said, “No acting ambitions.” She continued, “She’s in college and she’s studying and I think I would want Navya to be a professional, earn her own money, stand on her own two feet and do her thing.”

When probed further on films being an equally big opportunity to stand on your own two feet and earn money Shweta said, “You have to have an aptitude for it, you’ve to want it. I don’t see that in Navya. Again it’s funny, people ask me all the time and I don’t see why she should have to want to go into that line. She could become a business woman and do whatever she likes. Whatever she would want to do I would encourage her to do, but she doesn’t want to act.” Also see: What Made Janhvi Kapoor and Navya Naveli Nanda Ignore Each Other? Watch Video

In another interview Sr Bachchan’s daughter again reiterated this and said, “No Navya is not in films, she does write but I don’t know if she wants to write a book. She is studying right now she has to finish her education and she’s going to get a job. That’s the path so far that she wants to go on so I support her, I’m happy that’s what she’s doing. Yeah both the kids have to get education before they even begin decide where they’re gonna do and what they’re gonna do.” Don't miss: Abhishek Bachchan Avoids Ex Karisma Kapoor at Shweta Nanda’s Store Launch

Shweta had also discussed on how she had a tough time managing Navya and convincing her to be cautious about her social media posts. She confessed, “It’s tricky, because you can only do so much and no more... I’ve had tremendous fights with Navya, ‘stop posting these pics on Instagram’. On one hand I felt why am I curbing her? This is her account she should be allowed do what she wants. She should have a normal life like anybody else in school. And then on the other hand there are so many nasty comments. You know eventually she learnt herself. She realised what she could post and what she couldn’t post and I think it has tapered down now.” Also see: Amitabh Bachchan’s Daughter Shweta Nanda Speaks Up About Plagiarism Allegations and Nepotism: You’ve to Just Grow a Thick Skin

Navya was a part of Shweta’s MxS brand campaign. If the pictures are anything to go by then Abhishek Bachchan’s niece will soon have producers lining up with scripts. We will not be surprised if Shweta’s friend Karan Johar launches the young beauty in one of his movies in the coming years. And even though Shweta is vehemently denying Navya’s Bollywood aspirations we will have to wait and watch if it’s indeed true that Big B’s granddaughter chooses to steer clear of movies.
