New Delhi, September 24: Opposition parties are preparing to submit fresh notices in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha seeking to move a motion for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, sources said on Thursday. The move comes amid a political row over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and an Indian Express report on objections raised by two Election Commissioners.
The fresh notice is expected to be submitted in the coming days after being vetted by legal experts. Opposition parties are working together on the proposed motion, with INDIA bloc allies involved in the effort, according to sources.
This would be the Opposition's third attempt to seek Kumar's removal. A notice submitted by 73 Opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha on April 24 is still pending. An earlier removal motion submitted in both Houses was rejected.

Their objections reportedly covered changes to statutory Form 6, voter additions and deletions and the centralised handling of electoral-roll data.
The reported objections have centred particularly on changes made to Form 6, which is used by new voters to register themselves. The Election Commission has defended its functioning, saying differences of opinion and observations are a normal part of institutional deliberations. The poll panel has also said that its orders carry legal sanction and follow established statutory procedures.
The Opposition's latest move is expected to bring the functioning of the Election Commission and the SIR process back into focus when Parliament considers the proposed notice.
