A letter going viral on social media in the name of TRAI claims that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is seeking Rs 5,000 as a deposit to install mobile towers. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) cautioned people to stay safe from false claims that promise monthly rental payments for installing the mobile towers. The PIB Fact Check team busted the fake claim and said that TRAI never issued such letters. PIB Fact Check also said that TRAI is not involved in leasing or renting premises to install mobile towers.
