Microsoft has significantly increased Xbox Series X and S prices across Europe and the UK by up to €200 or £170. According to reports by, the steep hikes are driven by severe memory and storage shortages linked to high demand from the artificial intelligence sector, affecting all current models.
Microsoft has announced a substantial wave of price increases for its Xbox Series X and S consoles across Europe and the United Kingdom, following earlier adjustments introduced in the United States. Depending on the specific model, consumers will face price spikes of up to EUR 200 or GBP 170, marking the third major round of price revisions since May 2025.
As per a report by The Verge, the flagship 1TB Xbox Series X featuring a disc drive has climbed by over 30 percent, moving from GBP 499.99 and EUR 599.99 up to GBP 669.99 and EUR 799.99 respectively. Meanwhile, entry-level variants like the 512GB Xbox Series S have seen even sharper proportional increases, surging over 43 percent to reach higher price brackets across regional markets.
Hardware Cost Pressures and Memory Shortages
The sweeping price adjustments are largely driven by escalating global shortages of RAM and storage components. Surging demand from the artificial intelligence industry has severely constrained memory supplies, inflating production costs across the consumer electronics and gaming sectors.
As per a report by GamingBolt, industry analysts note that hardware manufacturers are struggling to maintain stable supply chains ahead of high-demand periods. In response to the component crunch, Microsoft has also elected to retire its higher-capacity 2TB console models entirely.
Updated Regional Pricing Structure
The revised pricing layout affects every tier of the current console generation available to European and British buyers. The base 512GB Xbox Series S now retails at EUR 499.99 / GBP 429.99, while the upgraded 1TB version costs EUR 599.99 / GBP 519.99.
For the performance tier, the 1TB digital-only Xbox Series X is priced at EUR 749.99 / GBP 619.99, and the disc-equipped variant reaches the peak of EUR 799.99 / GBP 669.99. These changes bring the high-end hardware cost significantly above its original 2020 launch retail value.
