New Delhi, Aug 17: Union minister Ananth Kumar is reportedly in London for treatment. While a report claimed Ananth Kumar is undergoing treatment for prospective pancreatic cancer, his office denied it. Terming the report of Kumar suffering from cancer as 'false', his office confirmed that the union minister is in London.

“The minister is in London at the home of his cousins and is scheduled to return within a week. It is only rumors about him suffering from cancer," Ananth Kumar's office said, as reported by Times of India. Kumar serves as minsiter of parliamentary affairs and chemicles and fertilizers. He is likely to be shifted to the United States for further treatment. Goa Congress Stakes Claim to Form Government in State as CM Manohar Parrikar Undergoes Treatment at AIIMS in Delhi.

Kumar's treatment was reportedly delayed because of by-election to Jayanagar Assembly seat in Karnataka and no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. Two weeks ago, the minister sought a permission from PM Modi to travel abroad for treatment. He was suffering from serious coughing problem prior to the Karnataka Assembly polls.

On September 15, BJP leader and Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar, who is suffering from advanced pancreatic cancer, was admitted at the All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the national capital. Parrikar, 62, has been in and out of hospitals in the US, Mumbai and Goa since February.
