Daati Maharaj Rape Case: Will Fully Cooperate in Investigation, Says Self-Styled Godman

New Delhi, June 14: Self styled godman Daati Maharaj, who is accused of raping his disciple, has said that he will "fully cooperate in the investigation." Daati Maharak has been booked for raping his disciple two years inside the premises of Shani Dham. He heads the Shani Dham in Fatehpur Beri in Delhi. The case was transferred to the Delhi Police crime branch earlier this week.

The crime branch of the Delhi Police on Wednesday recorded the statement of the survivor in the rape case. The crime branch has also initiated the process to issue a Lookout Circular against Daati Maharaj. He will not be permitted to leave the country.

Earlier this week, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) also sought police protection for the woman who was allegedly raped by Daati Maharaj. DCW chief Swati Maliwal wrote a letter to the SHO of Fatehpur Beri police station, requesting him to look into the matter and provide immediate protection to the victim.

Daati Maharaj was on Monday booked for allegedly raping his disciple two years ago. The woman disciple has alleged that she was raped by Daati Maharaj inside the Shani Dham two years ago. A case has been registered under Sections 376, 377, 354 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The woman said that she didn't file a police complaint earlier due to fear and social stigma. She said that she was intimidated by the huge following of the Shani Dham head. According to reports, he has been accused of sexual assault in the past too.
