Passing Criteria and Statistics
To successfully clear the Karnataka SSLC Exam 1, students are required to secure a minimum of 33 per cent marks in each subject. This reflects a slight adjustment from previous years when the requirement was 35 per cent. Approximately 9 lakh students registered for the exams this year, including fresh candidates, repeaters, and private students. While the board has yet to release the full merit list, initial reports suggest that the overall pass percentage remains a key indicator of the state’s academic performance following the 2nd PUC (Class 12) results announced earlier this month on April 9. Opportunities for Improvement
For students who did not meet the passing criteria in one or more subjects, the KSEAB maintains a unique three-exam system. SSLC Exam 2 (formerly the supplementary exam) is scheduled to be held from May 18 to May 25. This allows students to clear their subjects or improve their scores within the same academic year, ensuring they can proceed to higher secondary education without a gap year. The board has advised students and parents to rely solely on official websites for authentic information and to contact their respective schools for the physical collection of original mark cards in the coming weeks.
