Mumbai, November 1: The gold prices continue to fall ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali. 10-gram 22-carat gold price today is at Rs 31,350, down Rs 50 as compared to Wednesday's price. On the other hand, 24-carat gold price for 10 gram has also slipped by Rs 50 and is at Rs 33,350.  Dhanteras is considered to be an auspicious occasion to buy gold, and every time, around this time, the prices shoot up.

On Monday and Tuesday, the gold rates had increased on the back of a spike in demand in the market. According to reports, due to the muted demand, buyers have been postponing their plans to buy and invest in gold. Gold Rates in Diwali Season Rise Ahead of Dhanteras, Demand Picks Up.

On Wednesday,  in the international market, gold prices slipped to a more than two-week low as Asian stocks gained and the dollar touched multi-month highs on upbeat US economic data.
