India on Thursday issued an advisory for its nationals in Saudi Arabia amid the prevailing security situation in the Kingdom, urging them to remain 'alert and vigilant' and follow instructions issued by local authorities through official channels.

The Embassy of India in Riyadh, in an advisory issued on October 8, asked Indian citizens to exercise caution and stay indoors when necessary. The embassy also strongly advised Indians against circulating or reposting videos or news related to the ongoing developments.

Indian Embassy Issues Advisory

The Embassy of India in Riyadh and the Indian Consulate in Jeddah, along with their outsourced services through VFS, continue to function normally, the advisory said.

The missions will issue further updates and advisories if required. Indian nationals have also been asked to rely on the embassy's official social media channels for verified information.

The embassy reminded the Indian community that the 24x7 helpline of the Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra (PBSK) remains operational at 8002471234. Riyadh Flights Cancelled: Air India, IndiGo, Air India Express Suspend Services Till October 10 After Houthi Attacks.

Booms Heard In Riyadh Amid Houthi Escalation

The advisory comes amid reports of heightened tensions involving Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi group and Saudi Arabia. Loud booms were heard in Riyadh on Thursday, while flights at King Khalid International Airport faced delays and disruptions.

The Houthis claimed to have launched a ballistic missile towards Riyadh airport and renewed threats to target Saudi airspace. Saudi Arabia has also sought support from allied countries amid the escalation. US Issues Middle East Travel Warning As Houthis Claim Missile, Drone Attacks on Riyadh.

Saudi authorities said three people had been killed this week in strikes targeting Riyadh airport and Abha airport in the country's southwest.

Flights Disrupted In Riyadh

Flight tracking data showed several delayed arrivals and departures at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport on Thursday.

Several multinational companies in Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District reportedly asked employees to work from home following the loud booms. Some schools also reportedly advised parents about shelter-in-place measures, although there was no immediate public alert from Saudi authorities.

The latest escalation comes after Yemen's long-running civil war intensified again following a period of relative calm. The renewed fighting has raised concerns over regional security and the potential impact on Saudi Arabia and key shipping routes in the Red Sea.
