New Delhi, April 26:  A seven year-old girl was killed in a collision between a school van and a tempo this morning near Kanhaiya Nagar metro station. Meanwhile, at least 18 students have been severely injured in the same accident.  As per reports, the incident took place near Kanhaiya Nagar metro station. The injured school students are being treated at different hospitals. More details on the same are awaited.

In another similar incident from Uttar Pradesh,  at least 11 school students have died and around 7 are left critically injured as the vehicle in which they were travelling collided with a train at an unmanned crossing in Kushinagar, according to reports from ANI. Reports inform that the incident took place as the driver of the school bus didn’t know that a train was approaching from the opposite side.

In wake of the deadly incident, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted saying, “I have asked senior officials to conduct an inquiry into the incident. Railways will provide an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each to families of the deceased".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and expressed grief over the fatal incident. "I am extremely saddened on hearing about the death of 11 school students in a collision between a school van and a train in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar. UP government and railway dept will take appropriate action", Modi said in his tweet.
