Mumbai, June 22: In a shocking incident, a speeding car lost control and hurt eight people, out of which two are critical in Mumbai’s Dharavi area. According to a report, the 19-year old girl, who was driving the car, hit the accelerator instead of the brakes causing harm to eight people.

Reports inform that the student has been identified as Dhruva Jain, a resident of Kalbadevi. People walking on the streets were panicked and terrified as the car rammed into vehicles in broad daylight.

A close look at the CCTV footage dated June 19 shows how the car ran onto people. A woman on the co-passenger seat can also be seen jumping out of that car. Reports inform that the girl, a law student, was driving a rented car.

Soon after the deadly incident, she was arrested and released on bail. The incident took place at a signal, where vehicles were waiting to get a green signal. The car dashed the vehicles ahead of it and injured many people who were passing by. Besides hurting pedestrians, the car rammed into an auto rikshaw, 2 bikes and then a car.

In a similar incident last week, a 52-year-old police officer was critically injured when a speeding car, which he tried to stop, allegedly hit him and dragged him for over 500 metre in Bhopal. The driver accelerated, instead of stopping the car and allegedly hit the officer. Reports inform that driver fled the spot along with the vehicle.
