Mumbai, January 11: Karan Adani, the Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), today, January 11, credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for a "fundamental transformation" in India’s economic scale and national mindset. Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot, Adani emphasised that the country has moved beyond isolated projects to viewing development as a "civilizational mission." During the event, attended by the Prime Minister, the Adani Group also announced a major commitment to invest INR 1.5 lakh crore in Gujarat’s Kutch region over the next five years.

Redefining National Ambition

Karan Adani noted that under PM Modi’s tenure, India has evolved from merely aspiring to grow to aiming for global leadership. He stated that the nation has learned to prioritise long-term institution-building over short-term announcements. Navi Mumbai Airport Opens With Workers on Maiden Flight; Gautam Adani Says Their Smiles Reflect India’s Growing Confidence (Watch Video).

"India today does not just aspire to grow, but aims to lead, set global standards, and shape the future," Adani said. He highlighted that this shift began during Modi’s time as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, where the state demonstrated "ease of doing business" through faster decision-making and respect for enterprise.

A Major Investment Roadmap

As part of the group's "Viksit Bharat 2047" vision, the INR 1.5 lakh crore investment for the Kutch region targets several critical infrastructure and energy sectors:

Renewable Energy: Completion of the Khavda project, aiming to commission a full 37 GW capacity by 2030.

Port Expansion: A plan to double the capacity of Mundra Port within the next decade.

Industrial Hubs: Development of logistics and energy hubs in what was once considered a remote desert region.

India as a Global 'Bright Spot'

Addressing the current global economic uncertainty, Karan Adani described India as a resilient "bright spot," consistently growing close to 8 per cent. He cited the expansion of the manufacturing base and the steady progress toward becoming a USD 5 trillion economy - and eventually the world’s third-largest - as evidence of successful governance.

He further explained that PM Modi’s model of "cooperative and competitive federalism" has turned individual states into independent engines of growth, making India one of the most attractive global destinations for manufacturing. Gautam Adani Says AI and Clean Energy To Make India World’s Most Sustainable Intelligence Hub, Hails Adani-Google Partnership at Vizag.
