Mumbai, November 18: According to a new plan chalked out by BMC, parking for locals and visitors will be allowed inside 13 malls across the city. However, the areas outside will be strict no-parking zones. According to a Times of India report, the charges will be very nominal for it.

This was one of the major decisions of the recently formed MPA headed by Gautam Chatterjee. Officials informed that they collected data from several shopping malls to address the concerns of parking. MPA is waiting for reduced rate charts from malls for day time and night parking charges. Once the scheme is implemented, BMC will impose heavy penalties on cars parked outside the malls or in a 100-metre radius. In July this year, it was announced that BEST Bus depots will be opened up for 24x7 parking at reasonable rates. The BEST had earlier has well proposed the plan, but the rates were much higher back then. Along with hourly plans, BEST also offered monthly parking packages for the convenience of the commuters.
