AAP Leader Saurabh Jha Thrashes Man in Delhi as Police Looks On, Incident Caught on Camera

New Delhi, December 2: A video which went viral on social media shows a key aide of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Rituraj Jha assaulting a man in Delhi's Kirari, even as the police personnel looked on. The attacker has been identified as Saurabh Jha, who is part of AAP's Poorvanchal Morcha.

The incident, caught on camera, dates back to November 14. Reports claimed that the victim, Vikas, has been named in several cases by the police. The locals in Kirari were reportedly chasing Vikas before he was apprehended by Jha and beaten up. The residents were agitated over the alleged molestation incident.

In the clip being circulated, Vikas is seen shirtless, begging Jha to stop the assault on him. The latter, however, continues to mercilessly thrash him.

According to the police, Vikas was beaten up by the AAP leader and locals as he, along with his friends, had molested a girl on November 13.

The police has denied remaining a mute spectators to the assault, claiming that Vikas was immediately rescued and subsequently arrested.

According to Vikas's family, however, he was assaulted by Jha due to personal enmity. The family claimed that the AAP workers had demanded Rs 25 lakh from them to clear Vikas's brother's name in a gang-rape case, registered two years ago. Since they refused to comply with his demand, Jha thrashed Vikas, the latter's mother alleged.
