Agra, September 20: A 28-year-old woman from Firozabad was gang-raped by two men in a hotel in Agra after being lured by a fraudster she met on social media. The men later extorted money from her and posted her photos online when she couldn't meet their further demands.
According to a report in Live Hindustan, the woman had befriended a man online who claimed to be in Dubai and promised to bring her gold jewellery. On August 24, he told her he was coming to Agra and asked to meet. Leaving home under the pretext of visiting SN Medical College for medicine, she arrived in Agra only to be told by the fraudster that he was caught at the airport and needed INR 10,000. Unable to help, the woman was left crying at Agra Cantt railway station, where three men approached her, offering assistance. They transferred INR 5,000 and convinced her to accompany them to a hotel, where two of them raped her while the third filmed the assault. The men then blackmailed her for INR 40,000, demanding an additional INR 2 lakh. When she refused, they posted her photos online. Her husband later found out, and a case was registered at the Sadar police station. Police arrested two suspects, Vishal Singh and Neeraj Kumar, both from Akhbai village in Kagaraul. The third accomplice, Bhupendra, who filmed the incident, is on the run.
"The woman's jewelry has been recovered, and we are tracing the cybercriminal's number. Further investigation is underway," said Pradeep Kumar, in-charge of Sadar police station. The accused men were working in catering and allegedly targeted the woman while en route to Tamil Nadu.
