How The Attack Unfolded
Balyan was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Wednesday evening as he was leaving the gym in Bantikhera, Shamli district. According to the gym owner, Ravi Sharma, Balyan used to visit the gym every day, and the attackers opened fire on him around 6:30 to 6:45 pm as he was stepping out after his workout. Reports citing police put the number of shots fired at between 15 and 20 rounds. Balyan was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. Police said the assailants arrived on motorcycles and fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The Shamli Police have since formed multiple teams to examine CCTV footage from the area and identify the attackers, though the motive behind the killing has not yet been officially confirmed.

A viral social media post allegedly linked to the Gogi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder, linking it to a song Balyan had created that referenced the killing of gangster Jitendra Gogi, who was shot dead inside Rohini Court. Police are investigating the authenticity of the post as part of the probe. Hours before he was killed, Balyan had posted an Instagram video singing lines from a song referencing violence, which he had urged his followers to share. Who Was Ankit Balyan
Balyan, a singer, actor and YouTuber from Bantikhera village in Shamli district, built a large following through Haryanvi music, podcasts and vlogs. He was best known for his song "Bhari Court Mein Goli Marenge," which has crossed 54 million views on YouTube, along with tracks such as "112 NE," "Agla Janam Jaat," and "Savidhan." He had previously drawn public attention in 2023 following a roadshow in Shamli, and there were reports, though not officially confirmed, that he was preparing to contest the upcoming District Panchayat elections.
Protests Erupt After Killing
The murder triggered protests in the area, with Balyan's family and supporters blocking the Delhi-Muzaffarnagar road near Verma Market Tiraha, close to where the shooting took place. Police continue to investigate the case, with the CCTV footage now central to identifying the attackers.
