According to a report by Bar and Bench, the public interest litigation (PIL) argues that Jantar Mantar is no longer fit to serve as a protest venue, citing the inconvenience caused to the general public. The plea was filed by Satish Chand Kaushik through advocate Aakarshan Aditya. A bench comprising the Chief Justice along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana also issued notices to the Commissioner of Delhi Police and the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).
What The Plea Says
As per Bar and Bench, the plea states that Jantar Mantar is no longer a proper site for protests because of ingress and egress issues, along with difficulties in supplying medical essentials to those present.
Taking note of the submission, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, "I think this is important... please take instructions, Mr Solicitor. Advocate Flags AAP Townhall And July 20 Clashes
Advocate Aditya, appearing for the petitioner, told the court that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal had called a townhall and decided to march to the Prime Minister's residence. He submitted, "Another July 20 incident should be avoided."

Background: CJP Protest And July 20 Clashes
The plea comes weeks after a massive protest was held at Jantar Mantar by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) over alleged irregularities in the NEET UG paper leak, with thousands of students taking part. On July 20, clashes broke out between protesters and the Delhi Police during the CJP's 'Sansad Chalo' march, with protesters alleging police brutality, an allegation the force denied. The CJP called off its protest on July 25, following Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation as Union Education Minister.
