Senior authorities in Uttar Pradesh Police suspended Sub-Inspector (SI) Anu Rani (Annu Collis) following allegations of posting objectionable content and displaying a payment QR code during live interactions on social media platforms. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avinash Pandey issued the suspension order, citing a breach of the department's strict social media policy. The action came after a video circulated online in which a social media creator raised concerns over SI Anu's online activities. Police officials clarified that none of the viral videos show the officer in uniform. However, departmental regulations explicitly restrict personnel from engaging in monetized, self-promotional, or inappropriate online behavior that compromises the dignity of the service. A dual investigation has been launched to look into the matter. The Cyber Cell is currently examining the authenticity of the video footage and verifying whether the content was tampered with or edited. Speaking on the action, SP (Crime) Avnish Kumar confirmed that the officer was suspended for violating professional conduct protocols on digital platforms. Further administrative action will depend on the final findings of the Cyber Cell and departmental inquiry reports. SI Anu Rani, a 2023-batch officer previously posted in the Meerut Police Lines, had formerly garnered media attention for her involvement in high-profile local investigations. Following the controversy, her social media accounts have been deleted.
