Lucknow, September 29: Hours after an Apple employee Vivek Tiwari was shot dead allegedly by a police constable in Lucknow, his wife Kalpana Tiwari said police had no right to shoot her husband without any reason. The wife of the deceased demanded Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take cognizance of the incident. According to ANI, 38-year-old Vivek was injured and subsequently taken to Lohia hospital in the city where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police-constable Prashant Chaudhary was quoted by ANI saying that he fired a bullet in self-defence. "At 2 am last night, I saw a suspicious car with its lights off, when I approached the car, the driver (Vivek Tiwari) tried to run over me thrice to kill me. I fired a bullet in self-defence, he then immediately took off from the spot", the UP constable added.

According to a report by ABP News, the postmortem report of Vivek Tiwari reveals he was shot with a bullet. Vivek is survived by a wife and two daughters. The incident took place when Vivek was returning home in his SUV and was stopped by two policemen. After he allegedly refused to stop his SUV during checking by the police, one of the policemen took out his gun and fired at him on noticing suspicious activity.

The incident took place on the intervening of Friday and Saturday around 1:30 am in Lucknow's upscale Gomti Nagar extension area. As per details by the Police, Tiwari, who was driving the car, first hit the police patrol bike and then rammed a wall while allegedly trying to escape. Reports inform that constable Prashant Kumar who fired at the car was arrested after police registered an FIR on Tiwari's colleague complaint. Meanwhile, the woman who was present with Vivek Tiwari when the incident took place said she is under no pressure to hide the truth and wants the culprit to be punished. "I am not in a condition to say anything right now. Even I want the culprit to be punished. I am under no pressure to hide the truth: Woman who was present with Vivek Tiwari when he was shot at by Lucknow police last night", Tiwari's co-passenger was quoted by ANI.
