New Delhi, August 16: President Ram Nath Kovind has met the former Finance Minister and BJP leader, Arun Jaitely who is admitted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Friday. He was admitted to AIIMS on August 9 due to breathing problems. According to the statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, Kovind was scheduled to meet Jaitley at 11 am today. On Wednesday, hospital sources speaking to news agency ANI said the veteran politician is "critical" but continues to remain hemodynamically stable. Hemodynamically stable refers to the normal pumping of the heart and "good circulation" of blood in all the vital organs.

Jaitley has not been well for the past two years, as a result of which, he did not contest the Lok Sabha elections this year. He had undergone renal transplant on May 14 in 2017, with Piyush Goyal filling in for him in the finance ministry at that time too. Earlier in September 2014, he underwent bariatric surgery to correct the weight he had gained because of a long-standing diabetic condition.

Soon after Jaitley was admitted on August 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan also have visited the Former FM at the hospital.
