Ayodhya, November 24: The Ayodhya Municipal Corporation has made arrangements for jute coats for cows, considering the long winter season ahead. The BJP government, which has emphasised on the preservation of cows in its election manifestos in Uttar Pradesh as well as other states, seeks to send a message to its electorate through the winter coats for the cows. BJP leader and Mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay, was quoted saying by The Indian Express that cows are generally provided with jute bags to protect them from cold. A few samples will first be tried and tested, before ordering more, said Upadhyay. The person who has been assigned the contract for stitching the coats is one Rajju Pandey.

Upadhyay also added that if the move goes as planned, it will be suggested to the state government as well. The state government can consider putting the initiative to use if they like the idea.

The Municipal Corporation’s cow shelter is at Baishingpur village in Ayodhya town. It has about 1,200 cattle, out of which there are 700-800 bulls. The remaining are cows and calves. The coats are being manufactured as of now. Once the samples are ready, there will be clarity on the costs of the coats.
