During the inquiry, investigators examined records related not only to the alleged misappropriation of donation funds but also appointments made by the Trust, including recruitment of security personnel and other staff working at the temple complex. Sources familiar with the probe said investigators scrutinised whether established procedures were followed in these appointments.
As part of the investigation, the SIT questioned several individuals associated with the temple administration, including senior office bearers of the Trust. The team also examined documents related to financial management, staffing, and operational practices at the temple complex. Reports indicate that more than a dozen people connected with the administration have been questioned during the course of the probe. Separately, investigators directed key trust and temple officials to remain in Ayodhya while the inquiry continues, indicating that the investigation has entered a critical phase.
The controversy began after allegations surfaced claiming that donations made by devotees to the Ram Temple had been misappropriated. The claims triggered political reactions and prompted the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to seek an independent investigation by the state government.
In response, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted a three-member SIT to establish the facts. The Trust has maintained that it supports a transparent investigation and has described the probe as necessary to address allegations and protect the faith of devotees.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath Urges Patience
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed against drawing conclusions before the investigation is complete. He has said that anyone found guilty would not be spared while urging those making allegations to provide documentary evidence to the SIT. The Chief Minister also expressed confidence that the investigation would establish the truth.
The preliminary report expected on Monday is likely to determine the next phase of the investigation, including whether further questioning, forensic examination, or additional legal action will be required. Officials have indicated that the inquiry remains ongoing and that final conclusions will be drawn only after the investigation is completed.
