The incident dates back to the afternoon of August 16, 2020, when Yadav entered the residence of the minor victim and committed the assault, according to Special Public Prosecutor Vimal Kumar Rai. Following a formal complaint filed by the victim’s father, local law enforcement registered a case under relevant Indian Penal Code (IPC) provisions, the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Protection of Children from S*xual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police completed the inquiry and submitted a formal charge sheet to the court, leading to the trial and conviction six years after the offence.
