Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has questioned the Narendra Modi government’s response to protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the extensive security measures imposed in Delhi raise questions about the protection being provided to the poll body chief. Speaking at a press conference, Dipke criticised restrictions affecting public transport, the deployment of security forces and the detention of protesters and opposition leaders.

In remarks shared on social media, Dipke questioned why the government had imposed such extensive restrictions in response to demonstrations against Kumar. He alleged that Delhi had been brought to a standstill, with railway services disrupted, Delhi Metro stations closed and security forces deployed across the national capital. Abhijeet Dipke Slams Delhi Security Restrictions

Abhijeet Dipke Questions PM Modi’s Support for Gyanesh Kumar

During the press conference, Dipke questioned Kumar’s importance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that the Chief Election Commissioner was receiving disproportionate protection from the government.

“You have even called unfurling the Tricolour a violation of law. For whom? For Gyanesh Kumar?” Dipke said, questioning the action taken against protesters seeking to display the national flag.

He further asked why Modi was providing Kumar with extensive protection and alleged that the Election Commission chief could be helping the ruling party win elections.

“If he is not helping him win elections, why is Narendra Modi providing him with so much protection?” Dipke asked.

The remarks were allegations made by the CJP founder and do not independently establish wrongdoing by Kumar or the Election Commission. CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke Counters Mary Millben Over US Funding Allegations, Questions Foreign Interference.

CJP Founder Slams Delhi Metro, Railway Restrictions

Dipke also criticised the security arrangements in Delhi, comparing the restrictions to those imposed along the India-Pakistan border.

He alleged that student organisations, opposition leaders and former chief ministers had been affected by the police action, questioning whether such extensive measures were justified over protests against one constitutional authority.

The remarks come amid protests organised by the Cockroach Janta Party and other groups demanding Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The controversy has centred on concerns over voter-list changes and their potential implications for electoral transparency. The Election Commission and the BJP have denied allegations of wrongdoing.

CJP Protest Row Continues After October 10 Detentions

The remarks follow the October 10 protest in Delhi, for which police denied permission. Authorities imposed extensive security measures, and thousands of people were detained during the crackdown on demonstrations demanding Kumar’s resignation. CJP founder Dipke and other party leaders were also detained before being released by a court.

The dispute has since continued. CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were sent to judicial custody over allegations linked to the protest, prompting Dipke to announce a fresh gathering with the national flag at Central Park in Connaught Place on October 16.

The developments have intensified debate over restrictions on public demonstrations, the right to peaceful protest and the Election Commission’s handling of electoral-roll revisions. Dipke’s allegations against Kumar and the government remain contested claims, while the legal questions surrounding the protest restrictions are being addressed separately.
