Bengaluru, January 5: Bengaluru Power Cut disruptions are set to affect several parts of the city this week as electricity authorities undertake essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. Residents and businesses in multiple residential and industrial zones should prepare for scheduled outages lasting up to seven hours, as maintenance work is carried out by Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) in coordination with Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL).

Affected Areas and Power Cut Timings

The scheduled power interruptions will occur between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM on different days this week, mainly impacting southern and eastern parts of Bengaluru. In the initial phase, power cuts are expected in key residential localities including Koramangala 4th and 5th Blocks, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, Jayanagar, parts of JP Nagar, and Electronic City Phases 1 and 2.

Later in the week, industrial belts such as Attibele and Anekal will face outages to allow substation upgrades and line-strengthening work. Haridwar: Congress MLA Virendra Jaatii Cuts Off Officers’ Electricity After Power Cuts in Jhabrera Constituency (Watch Video).

Why the Power Cuts Are Necessary

According to officials, the Bengaluru power cut schedule is part of preventive maintenance ahead of changing weather conditions. The work includes shifting high-tension cables, replacing old electric poles, trimming trees near overhead lines, and upgrading terminal equipment. In Attibele and Anekal, transformer testing and infrastructure modernisation are being carried out to support the city’s growing industrial load. Indore Water Crisis: Residents of Bakery Gali Claim Using Contaminated, Insect-Infested Water.

Impact on Daily Life

The extended outages may affect work-from-home professionals, small businesses, and manufacturing units without adequate power backup. Water supply could also be disrupted in apartments dependent on electric pumps. BESCOM has advised residents to charge essential devices in advance and plan daily activities accordingly.

Authorities aim to restore power by early evening each day, though delays are possible due to technical or weather-related challenges. Residents can check real-time Bengaluru power cut updates via the official BESCOM website or the Mithra app.
