New Delhi, February 17: In the wake of the deadly Pulwama attack in Jammu & Kashmir in which over 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives, traders across the nation have called for a nationwide protest on Monday. For this, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has reached out to all States and the cities to join them in this nationwide ‘Bharat Trade Bandh’. According to trade leaders,  18 states, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, and others are believed to participate in the bandh on Monday. Bharat Bandh Tomorrow: Nationwide Strike Called by Traders Against Pulwama Terror Attack, Know What’s Open And Shut on February 18.

During the bandh, traders will keep a day-long fast and will take out tribute march and candlelight march in their respective states, CAIT national president BC Bhartia said.  The CAIT said that commercial markets will remain closed and there will be no business activity during the bandh. Meanwhile, public transportation including train and bus services will remain unaffected so that no inconvenience is called to commuters. Pulwama Terror Attack: Traders in Ahmedabad Call One Day Bandh as Mark of Protest.

In Delhi, all the wholesale and retail markets will observe a bandh while  prominent markets including Chandni Chowk, Khari Baoli, Kashmiri Gate, Chawri Bazar, Sadar Bazar, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Kamla Nagar, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar, Shahdara, Gandhi Nagar etc will be closed.

On Saturday, several states including Karnataka, Gujarat, some districts of Maharashtra, Kerala, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Eastern UP observed a bandh on the call by CAIT.
