A mobile shop in Kareda town of Rajasthan's Bhilwara district was burgled after midnight on Monday, with thieves allegedly stealing 35-40 smartphones worth INR 4-5 lakh. CCTV video reportedly shows one suspect wearing a mask resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Police said the same gang also attempted to break into another mobile shop the same night. An investigation is underway.

A burglary at a mobile phone shop in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district has drawn attention after CCTV video allegedly showed one of the suspects wearing a mask resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The theft took place around midnight on Monday, June 29, in Kareda town, where thieves allegedly stole around 35 to 40 smartphones worth an estimated INR 4 lakh to INR 5 lakh from a shop near the bus stand, police said.
The theft came to light on Tuesday morning, June 30, when shop owner Laxman Sen opened the shop and found it ransacked. Mobile phone boxes were lying empty on the floor, prompting him to alert the police. Officers reached the spot, inspected the premises and began an investigation.

Kareda police station in-charge Puranmal Meena said shop owner Laxman Sen filed a theft report after discovering the burglary. "He discovered the theft on Tuesday morning when he opened his shop as usual. He was shocked to see the scene inside. All the goods were scattered on the floor and the mobile phone boxes were empty. He informed the police."
According to the station officer, CCTV footage from the shop and nearby locations captured one of the suspects wearing a PM Narendra Modi mask while carrying out the burglary. "When police examined CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas, a thief was clearly seen wearing a PM Narendra Modi mask."
Another Shop Also Targeted
Police said the same group also attempted to break into another mobile phone shop at the Beej Godown intersection in Kareda on the same night. According to investigators, CCTV footage from that location also shows the same masked individual attempting to break open the shop's shutter lock.
The station officer said police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by the shopkeeper and have launched an investigation into the incident.
"The Kareda police station in-charge stated that a case has been registered based on the shopkeeper's report and an investigation has been initiated." Police are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify the suspects and recover the stolen smartphones.
