Bihar BJYM Leader Shot Dead in Locked House; Abhijit Singh Rajput Found After 2 Days
A 22-year-old local political functionary was found dead inside his home in Bihar’s Saharsa district on Friday under mysterious circumstances. The deceased, identified as Abhijit Singh, served as the district general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Police recovered Singh’s body from his residence located in the Gautam Nagar area (Ward Number 11) within the Sadar police station limits. Authorities confirmed the body bore bullet injuries to the head and was discovered lying on a bed inside the locked living quarters. According to preliminary inquiries, Singh was last seen attending a party hosted by an acquaintance on Wednesday evening. The incident came to light on Friday when a friend, identified as Aryan, reached the residence and raised an alarm after peeping through a window. Upon being alerted by family relatives, a police team arrived at the scene, opened the locked door, and secured the crime scene.
Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that investigators have sent the body to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact timeline and cause of death. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) unit was also deployed to collect physical and scientific evidence from the house.
Investigators are probing all possible angles, including personal enmities and financial disputes, to determine the motive behind the killing. Friends and local residents reported that the victim had been living alone following the deaths of his father in 2018 and his mother in 2017, while his younger brother resides in Delhi. Police said no arrests have been made so far, but officials are currently questioning acquaintances, including those present at the Wednesday gathering, to identify the perpetrators.
