What Happened
According to Amar Ujala report, the boat was crossing the river when it suddenly lost control in the Ganga’s swift current and overturned. Eyewitnesses said several labourers were swept away immediately after the capsizing, and some may have been trapped under the overturned vessel.

Rescue Operation Underway
As soon as information about the incident reached authorities, the district administration and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team reached the spot with a motorboat. Rescue teams are continuously searching around the capsized boat amidst the strong current, given the possibility that some labourers might be trapped underneath. Relief and rescue operations are being conducted under the supervision of the administration.

The accident occurred against a backdrop of high water levels and embankment stress in Bhagalpur. In recent days, a section of the Kajikoraiya–Raghopur marginal embankment in Kharik circle breached, prompting emergency repairs and flood-management measures, including coordination with West Bengal over the Farakka Barrage. Workers were engaged in embankment-related work in the area when the boat capsized during river crossing.
