'Bihar Pahunchne Mein Der Nahin Lagegi': AISA Chief Neha Bora Warns Centre, Demands Release of Jailed Students Over Paper Leak Protests

The All India Students’ Association (AISA) has demanded the immediate release of students jailed during protests over exam paper leaks in Bihar, warning of widespread agitation if the Union government fails to honor its assurances.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, AISA National President Neha Bora criticized the government’s handling of the protests, stating that assurances given to the student community have not been kept. She pointed out that despite promises to refrain from legal action and to drop existing charges against demonstrating students, hundreds remain in custody across Bihar. Bora condemned the nature of the legal actions taken against the youth, noting that severe charges, including attempt to murder, have been framed against those participating in demonstrations against paper leaks. She described the state action as unacceptable and urged the administration to revoke all cases immediately.

Warning the authorities of escalating unrest, Bora stated, "The Union government had assured that no cases would be filed against students protesting against the paper leak and that the existing cases would be withdrawn. However, hundreds of students remain in jail across Bihar. Arresting students and invoking serious charges such as attempt to murder against them for protesting is unacceptable. The government must honour its assurance and withdraw all cases against the protesters; otherwise, Bihar, too, will witness protests similar to those in Delhi."

The statement comes in the wake of widespread student-led demonstrations across the country over competitive exam paper leaks. While student organizations have consistently demanded systemic reforms, fair re-examinations, and an end to punitive police action against peaceful demonstrators, local authorities maintain that legal action was taken only against individuals who disrupted public order. AISA has reiterated that if the government does not fulfill its promises and release the detained students promptly, it will mobilize students for a larger, nation-wide movement centered in Bihar.
