Mohanpur SHO, Ajit Kumar Trivedi, stated that a forensic team visited the village to collect evidence. However, local villagers suggested another motive: they claimed Ram Naresh had recently sold paternal land but did not share any money with his son and daughter-in-law. This financial dispute could be a possible reason behind the murder, according to the SHO.

It is alleged she took the step because he had refused to give her Rs 2 lakh to go abroad. The accused daughter-in-law allegedly chopped off his private parts and hit him hard on his skull.

During a police interrogation, the daughter-in-law confessed to the crime and told the police that the 75-year-old deceased often had physical relations with her and gave her money in exchange for their illicit relationship.
