Chennai, August 31: In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old Dutch woman was found dead inside a hotel room in Chennai's Thyagaraya Nagar (T-Nagar) on Friday. According to a tweet by ANI, the body has been sent for postmortem and an investigation into the matter has been initiated. According to a report by TOI, the woman, who was from the Netherlands, has been identified as  Linda Irene.

Irene had introduced herself as a journalist and booked a room at the convention centre on Venkatesan Street on Monday. Reports inform that she had told the staff that she would vacate the room on Thursday morning.  Reports inform that after the hotel staff did not receive any response from the victim's room, they opened the room using a duplicate key at 12.45 pm since the check out time was 12.30 pm.

Soon after the incident, a team of police officials reached the convention centre and recovered Irene's body. Reports further inform that Police found her passport in the room which suggests that the deceased had introduced herself as a journalist.
