Chennai, November 24: A ride in Chennai Metro is going to be interesting as the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is planning onboard entertainment. By the end of December or early January, commuters can hop into a metro train and will be able to watch or download movies, songs or TV shows. If the plan comes to force, Chennai Metro would become first in the country to provide such facilities. To use these service commuters will have to download and install an app (yet to be released) specifically developed for this purpose, The Times of India reported. Content will be available in five languages- English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada- free of cost. The content on the application will be only visible if the users are connected to wi-fi at Metro stations. The wi-fi network, however, cannot be used browsing or making calls, the TOI reported.

"A trip between Washermenpet to Airport could take an hour and if there is no phone reception, commuters could get bored," an official said. He added that the new system will keep them entertained.
